The days are getting shorter now, and the nights come sooner. I often see the end of summer as as an opportunity for deeper reflection. The crisp leaves of autumn are a welcome change from the sweltering heat of a summer past its prime. The change of season reminds me once again of how everything in life ebbs and flows, the seasons change, children grow and we grow older too.
When I lived in Japan, the ritualistic observation of the seasons changing seemed almost spiritual. The cherry blossom festival in the Spring and the Autumnal celebration both served to reconnect and to celebrate the connection that we have to the earth in all it’s majesty and mystery. According to Einstein, we can choose to live our life as if nothing is a miracle or everything is a miracle. I choose to believe that everything is a miracle.
